Thrive

Thrive was born out of the necessity of caring for college students. At that time, Cebu Gospel Church (CGC) did not have a ministry that focused on the care and growth of the college youth. Most college students grew apart from the church and no longer had a church community. Some youth were led astray by having friends and relationships that did not help them grow in the faith.

Thrive was established in March 2019 with this vision and commitment in mind by seven CGC members, with 10-15 college students every Saturday. Some of Thrive’s activities include prayer and small group, bible study, testimonials, group dynamics, outdoor adventures, and movie nights. Thrive’s initial meeting place was the assembly hall on the second floor of CGC. Then, in late 2019, the leadership of Thrive realized the need for a specific place for the youth to call their own, a place that welcomed them wholeheartedly, allowed them to build fellowship with one another, and built better versions of themselves without fear. During the pandemic 2020 to 2021, Thrive continued to meet online through Zoom and was one of the fellowships that started an online platform in CGC. In 2022, the Youth Center of CGC opened, and Thrive was given a home.

CGC has continued to support Thrive in all its challenges. This 2025, Thrive’s activities are also centered on the church’s theme of “Pursue, Persist, and Prevail”. After six years, by God’s grace, the ministry has grown to 25-40 college students per week. The leaders of Thrive, who are called Guides, have also doubled to 14. The slogan of Thrive is, “Remember, keep growing on the weekdays, but we Thrive on the weekends”.
