CGC Choir

CYF offers high school students a space to build strong Christian foundations through Bible-based teachings and fellowship with peers.

CGC Choir

In the early days, a group of Chinese Christians met every Sunday to worship at the Bradford Memorial Church. As the congregation grew, the church choir was formed to serve Cebu Gospel Church especially during worship to prepare the hearts and open the souls to the presence of God through music.

1960’s

With the completion of the construction of Cebu Gospel Church in Osmena Blvd., the church choir led by our talented conductor, Ms. Hattie Yu continued to bring music to the hearts and souls of the congregation. Together they enjoyed the fellowship of preparing music that served the church and brought glory and honor to the Lord.

1970’s

Through the guidance of Ms. Bonnie Burroughs, the Sunday School Choir was created which led to what is now the Joybells Gospel Team. With two services every Sunday, one for the English congregation and another for the Chinese congregation, two Choir groups were also formed. The English Choir, handled by Mrs. Hattie Yu and the Chinese Choir, handled by Mrs. Cristina Tsang continued to encourage the talented Cebu Gospel Church members to use their gifts in singing to serve the Lord.

1980’s

The Cebu Gospel Church choir, made up of diverse age groups, continued to come together to make music and prepared the hearts and minds of the congregation to listen to the word of God. As the conductors, Ms. Elizabeth Oh and Ms. Jenny Ong, led the choir to sing, the musical notes lifted up with the blended voices creating a beautiful sound echoing through the four walls of the church and beyond.

1990’s - 2000’s

The Church choir entered a dynamic stage with new talents and potential fusing with the established generation. Truly, the Lord has blessed Cebu Gospel Church members with more and more talents. The Church Choir presents the Church Anthem, and the Praise Worship Team leads the congregation to sing sacred hymns and contemporary songs. As the younger generation hone new craft, performing arts has been incorporated in Cebu Gospel Church choir productions whether for Christmas, Resurrection Sunday or Thanksgiving.

2010’s

Cebu Gospel Church through its Sacred Music Ministry continually encourages its talented members to serve the Lord using their gift of voice and join the Church Choir. An inter-generational group composed of members as young as 14 years old to the golden years of 90 together lift their voices up to the Lord with a profound conviction that through songs for worship they create a symphony of praise that leads us all to encounter the Holy Lord.Through faith, the Cebu Gospel Church choir, in cooperation with Mandaue Gospel Choir, and former choir members from other parts of the world presented GOD IN US, in celebration of the Centennial Anniversary of Cebu Gospel Church. In the early days, a group of Chinese Christians gathered every Sunday at the Bradford Memorial Church to worship. As the congregation grew, a church choir was formed to serve Cebu Gospel Church, especially during worship, to prepare hearts and open souls to the presence of God through music.
